It’s hard changing the mindset that a sofa bed bed can be comfortable, because at some point, we’ve all had a terrible experience on one.
When we started designing sofa beds back in 2007, improving the the sleep experience was top of our list of priorities. We identified some of the biggest issues to quality sleep on a sofa bed, and one by one fixed them.
Yes, a good sofa bed will always be heavy, quality sofa beds are built from steel, lots of it. So moving them is always a two person job, so do we do it? No, not often enough. We addressed this with a clever mechanism that when engaged, it lifts the sofa onto wheels. Cleaning under the sofa, or changes of position from sofa to bed is easy now.

Guardsman fabric protection is a treatment we apply to the fabric of your sofa bed which repels and makes it easier to clean stains. It’s a water based process that is impossible to see or feel but it offers peace of mind knowing that your lovely sofa is protected.
Guardsman costs from £100 and along with the physical treatment of the sofa bed it also is an insurance policy in which, should something happen to your sofa bed that you can’t clean, the technicians at Guardsman will come and clean it off for you. In the unlikely event that they can’t, they will contact us for a replacement part. Guardsman protects your sofa physically and with an insurance backed guarantee for 5 years.
Changing the perception that sofa beds are uncomfortable is no easy task, especially since most of us have had less-than-pleasant experiences with them. But when we began designing sofa beds in 2007, enhancing the sleeping experience was our top priority. We carefully identified the major factors affecting sleep quality on a sofa bed, and we tackled them one by one.
Mattress - they are too thin ( so we fixed that )
One of the main complaints? Thin, unsupportive mattresses. We took care of that. Our sofa bed mattresses have won the hearts of thousands of customers, who now confidently offer their guests a restful night’s sleep. We transformed the sofa bed from an uncomfortable afterthought into a luxurious piece of furniture with a fantastic bed built-in. It’s truly a win-win!
This particular model features a 18cm mattress, we offer a choice of 3, we've designed them to offer excellent support and that feeling of a being in a real bed. . Depending on the size of your sofa, the bed can range from a single chair size to a spacious super king-size.
Sleeping surface or deck - too low, and 'boney' you can feel the metal frame underneath. We fixed that too.
One of the biggest grievances with traditional sofa beds is the low, 'boney' sleeping surface where you can feel the metal frame. We solved this problem too. Understanding that the bed’s mechanism is just as crucial as the mattress, we designed our sofa beds to feel like a real bed.
From the height to the ease of getting in and out, we ensured they sit at a standard bed height – ideal for all, especially older users. No one should have to get on their knees to get into bed!
As for feeling the metal frame beneath the mattress, we re-engineered the folding mechanism, cleverly relocating essential components so they’re out of the way, ensuring you never feel them while sleeping. Final note: Unlike many so-called sofa beds, ours come with real mattresses – not ones that double as a sofa seat. You can expect the kind of mattress you'd find on any proper bed, because, after all, your comfort matters, and a good night’s sleep is essential.
It's so annoying losing everyday items like remote controls and charging cables etc. So we designed a clever little area in your sofa especially for them. So long as you use it you'll never lose anything again.
It's also a great space to hold magazines, books and chocolate bars! Best of all its hidden so only you will know, I won't tell anyone if you don't!
We don't think the position of your sofa should be fixed, sometimes if space allows, you might like your sofa in one position during winter, say in front of the fireplace, and in summer closer to the window to enjoy the summer sun. You might even like to move it occasionally for cleaning.
The problem is that sofas are heavy, and good ones, and especially sofa beds are even heavier - not a simple job to move.
